The SARRC Office team had their work cut out for them with this year’s Greenbelt event.
Rightly named, the Greenbelt Challenge, dealing with 8 individual councils, major roadworks, and construction and linear path closures the team dug deep to ensure the run continued for 2018.
A total of 1173 runners registered for the 5 distances spanning from the 30K, half marathon, 10K, 5K, and kids fun run.
A dead zone added into the 30K course to ensure the entrants could safely cross South Rd and return back to the Linear Path, meant, yet again, there has been another highly successful and participated event for SARRC this year, with a 33% growth.
“Greenbelt this year is one of the most successful in SARRC’s history,” said Club Manager Cassandra Liebekencht.
When asked what this ongoing success is attributed to she replied,
“I believe that by making all distances part of the Triple Crown Series, it has opened up SARRC to new and returning runners. It is great to see so many new faces, enjoying the sport and our events, and the groovy medals help too.”
Thanks to the support from the City of West Torrens, SARRC was able to ensure a Kids Fun Run was available at Greenbelt, free of charge.
The final event in the series is Mclaren Vale which is already shaping up to be huge, you better get in now and snap up those early bird entries!
